What we never show
Your Trust Card never shows your last name, phone number, email, address, or any document. Searches only work with an exact phone number or email — nobody can browse a list of people. You decide if you're findable, and you can turn it off anytime.
Common questions
Is searching really free?
Yes. Looking someone up is free, with no account and no limits on honest use. Date Shield makes money from people who choose to verify themselves — never from searches.
Can someone look me up without my permission?
No. You only appear in search if you verified yourself, published your card, and turned findability on. Turn it off anytime and you disappear from search right away.
What does "Identity verified" mean?
It means a government ID and a live selfie were matched by an independent verification company. Date Shield never sees or stores the documents — only the pass result.
What if I search someone and nothing comes up?
It means no verified person chose to be findable by that phone or email. It is not a warning sign by itself — most people just haven't verified yet. Ask them to.
What information does Date Shield keep?
As little as possible. Documents, ID numbers, and selfies stay with our verification partners. We keep only pass/fail results, and your phone or email is stored as a scrambled code that can match a search but can't be read back.
